Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading..is good for him…to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs.

Our Goals

  • Address early educational inequities by providing a complete library of quality hardback books for under-resourced schools;
  • Engage children with books and stories to which they would not have otherwise been exposed;
  • Help children gain knowledge of phonemes in an interesting context, allowing them to enter kindergarten confidently and ready to continue building literacy skills that will successfully propel them through grade school;
  • Increase the likelihood that all teachers will conduct read aloud story times every school day;
  • Build bridges between the early childhood classroom and home;
  • Strive to educate teachers and parents about overcoming the unique challenges facing students in our partner schools;
  • Introduce families to local libraries and help them overcome reluctance about utilizing libraries; and
  • Build background knowledge vocabulary and literacy skills to address a significant gap that exists for children living in poverty.
